The word German can mean:

- When used to denote a person, it can either denote an inhabitant of Germany, or an ethnic German
- The name 'German' is (not preciselly) sometimes also used for the various peoples that lived in Germany and other parts of Central Europe in the period of the Holy Roman Empire. See: Germanic peoples
