(Hed) P.E. is a metal-Hop band that hails from the Orange County, California punk rock scene. Though metal hop ha been getting a bad wrap now that the style of music is slowly becoming outdated, (Hed) P.E. is considered to be one of the earliest pioneers of the rap metal scene, there evolution can be heard on their latest CD "Blackout" as being one of the more powerful albums this year.

Their second album, "Broke", had the makings of being a break-out album. Unlike many of the metal-hop bands out there, (Hed) P.E. had a message and within the awesome riffs and deep base. Their brand of metal music had soul and spoke of issues that were a part of everyday life, as well as songs that touched the individualistic aspects of everyday life through the eyes of frontman Jared (a.k.a., MCUD).

The problem with rap metal today is that it has become too commercialized. Metal hop bands have nothing more to say and try to concentrate their efforts into making it too hard or too soft, and failing at both. Another reason metal hop is failing to captivate audience is mainly due to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. His media persona has brought much scrutiny to the style of music as he continues to put out music devoid of quality and creativity.

It really is a shame, because there are many great metal hop bands out there, and (hed) P.E. is definitely one of them. Its a shame the metal hop is fading out because of those commercial bands out there that tarnish great acts like (Hed) P.E.. If you ever get a chance, pick up anyone of there 3 albums ("(Hed) P.E. "(self-titled), "Broke", "Blackout") and you'll know hat I'm talking about, because they were what' was missing in the popular metal hop scene, and it's too late to turn back the clock now....
