Aghbania or "Caucasian Albania" was an ancient empire that covered what is now southern Dagestan and northern Azerbaijan.

Some historians say that the Albanians of the Balkans and the Lezgins of the Caucasus are the same people, and that the Albanians moved to the Balkans from the Caucasus around the 10th century.
