Ahmet Necdet Sezer (born September 13, 1943) is the president of Turkey. He is the first president in recent years neither to have been a military leader or a politician, but had previously been chief justice of the constitutional court of Turkey after a long career as lawyer and judge.

He was sworn in as president in May 2000. He is a strong secularist, and no fan of his Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He supports Turkey's membership of the European Union. He has criticized the Turkish constitution as insufficiently democratic.
