AFB is the standard U.S abbreviation for an air force base, such as Vandenburg AFB in California, or Homestead AFB in Homestead, Florida. If the base has been converted from full-time to reserve, it is called an air reserve base or ARB, such as Dobbins ARB in Marietta, Georgia.
