census of 2000, there are 1,088 people, 482 households, and 270 families residing in the village. The population density is 567.7/km² (1,473.9/mi²). There are 624 housing units at an average density of 325.6/km² (845.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.08% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 482 households out of which 24.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.4% are married couples living together, 14.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.8% are non-families. 38.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.12 and the average family size is 2.81.
