Almere (population: 158,849) is a municipality in the central Netherlands, in the province of Flevoland. The municipality covers an area of 179.21 km² (of which 46.95 km² water).
The municipality of Almere consists of the following city parts: Almere Buiten, Almere Haven, Almere Poort, Almere Stad.

Zilverstrand, in the southwest corner of the municipality, is partly an official nudist beach. The nearest public transport is the bus to car-pool place Muiderberg, from where one takes the Hollandse Brug bridge across the Gooimeer. "Cuddling is allowed, but it should not become pornographic", police explained after an incident.
