Anthony Hancock Paintings and Sculptures: A Retrospective Exhibition is claimed by some to be an exhibition held at The Foundry in September 2002 by the London Institute of Pataphysics (LIP).
British comedian Tony Hancock played a character Anthony Aloysius St. John Hancock in the 1960 movie, The Rebel. In the film Hancock's character wowed the bogus intellectual artists of Paris with some dreadful art. Some claim that an exhibition, in the typical pataphysical tradition, was held to study this art work which didn't exist.
The Department of Reconstructive Archaeology is the section of the LIP responsible for this exhibition. The department states that it has "no prejudices regarding the superior validity of 'the real' over 'the fictional'". The department also sells postcards and posters of this event.
