Ayub is a prophet in the Quran. In the Bible he is known as Job.

Ayub was descended from Ishaq and grew up in a wealthy home with a large family. He lived a comfortable life. To test Ayub, God would destroyed many of Ayub's posessions, ranging from cattle to his house. However, Ayub's response would always be the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. God continued to test Ayub, eventually he was afflicted with boils all over his body. This led his townspeople to kick him out of the town and into the wilderness. Here Ayub faced even more trials, but his faith in God was never shaken. God eventually gave him a full recovery from his boils, and Ayub worked the land becoming richer than he ever was before.

He is thus noted for his extreme patience, and faith in God despite all trials.
