BAR-HEADED GOOSE

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Anseriformes
Family: Anatidae
Genus: Anser
Species:indicus
Binomial name
Anser indicus

The Bar-headed Goose (Anser indicus) is a goose of Central Asia and India a bird easily distinguished from any of the other grey geese of the genus Anser by the character implied by its English name.

It is certainly somewhat abnormal when compared to its relatives, and, indeed, has sometimes been separated from the genus Anser, which has no other member indigenous to the Indian Region, nor any at all to the Ethiopian, Australian, or Neotropical Regions.
