A Belfry is a building in which bells are hung. Often they are attached to Christian Churches.

In the middle ages, the important papers of cities were sometimes kept here. They can be found in the western provinces of Flanders and in the north of France along the Belgian border. Very famous are those of Bruges, Ypres and Ghent.
