During the 1945 World Series the Chicago Cubs were leading the Detroit Tigers 3 games to 2. During game 6, a fan attempted to bring a billy goat into Wrigley Field. He was ejected from the ball park due to the goat's foul smell. It is rumored that he put a curse on the Cubs that they would never win the National League pennant ever again. The curse has struck the Cubs many times, most recently in the 2003 National League Championship Series, when the Cubs were leading the Florida Marlins 3 games to 2, and were playing at Wrigley Field. The Cubs lost both games and the penant.
