Bitstream Vera is a typeface (font) with a liberal license. It was designed by Jim Lyles from Bitstream for the GNOME Project, and is closely based on Bitstream Prima, for which Lyles was also responsible. It was designed specifically for readability and attractiveness on computer monitors, as was Bitstream Prima.
