Brantford (2001 population 86,417) is located on the Grand River in southwestern Ontario, Canada.

The city was first settled in 1784 when Captain Joseph Brant and his troop of Six Nations Indians escaped New York to settle in Canada. Brantford became a city in 1877.

Famous Brantford natives include telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, actor Phil Hartman and hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky.
