census of 2000, there are 1,214 people, 545 households, and 415 families residing in the town. The population density is 197.8/km² (511.5/mi²). There are 711 housing units at an average density of 115.8/km² (299.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.11% White, 0.33% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.16% from other races, and 0.58% from two or more races. 1.40% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 545 households out of which 17.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.51. In the town the population is spread out with 14.7% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 18.5% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 33.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
