Chronic ( Greek chronos) - for example a chronic illness is one that persists for a long time, usually more than three months. By analogy, this adjective has come to describe the solution of a problem that is not possible in a short time, or that if once solved will recur.
Examples of chronic conditions:
- chronic bronchitis
- chronic lymphocytic leukemia
- chronic fatigue syndrome
"The chronic" is also a slang term for cannabis.
