Compiere is developed using J2EE. The application and source code is provided on the basis of a royalty free Mozilla Public License. It can be customized and extended within the application and by means of adding additional software modules to it. Documentation and support contracts are also available for a fee. Compiere requires an Oracle Database installation. Hence, the user will need to possess Oracle valid license. Current work is underway to implement database independence in Compiere to reduce the system's cost of deployment.
