The Contemporary English Version or CEV is a new translation of the Bible into English, published by the American Bible Society. The New Testament was published in 1991 and the entire Bible in 1995. The Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical Books were published in 1999.

It is a dynamic rather than literal translation. Its proponents maintain that it combines faithfulness to orthodox theology with accessability to modern readers.
