The Continental Basketball Association is a professional men's basketball league in the United States. The league views itself as a minor league that developes talent for the National Basketball Association.

The CBA was formed on April 23, 1946. Originally named the Eastern Pennsylvania Basketball League (1946-47), the Eastern Professional Basketball League (1948-70), the Eastern Basketball Association (1971-78).On June 1, 1978, the league's name was changed from the Eastern Basketball Association to the current Continental Basketball Association.
