Designated by the scientific name Elaphe Guttata, they are known for being somewhat small compared to other Rat Snake species. They are found throughout south-eastern and central North America as well as parts of Mexico. Corn Snakes are known for being ideal pets and are one of the most widely available snakes in the pet trade. The Elaphe Guttata guttata is prevelant in both central North America and also parts of Mexico. It is distinguished by having red blotches on its skin which are have black borders The Elaphe Guttata emoryi is prevelant in the eastern United States and has grey blotches instead of red ones.
