Dan, Crown Prince of Yan (simplified and traditional Chinese 燕太子丹) sent Jing Ke to assassinate Qin Shihuangdi, then Emperor of China. His father King Xi of Yan had him killed after the failed assissination to please the Qin after Ji, the capital of Yan, had fallen. Invasion of Qin did halt for few years, during when the Wei (state) and Chu (state) were conquered. Meanwhile King Xi of Yan moved to Liaodong Commandery.

The state of Yan was conquered in 222 BC and King Xi was captured.

Role in The Emperor and the Assassin

Crown Prince Dan put forward the assassination to please Qin-Shi, Qin Shihuangdi's concubine. The attempted assassination was a failure.
