Darkness on the Edge of Town is a heartland rock album by Bruce Springsteen, released on June 2, 1978 (see 1978 in music). Recovering from legal troubles and the stress of the breakthrough success of Born To Run, Springsteen released a defiantly anti-commercial album, Darkness on the Edge of Town. Sales were not as high as the blockbuster peaks of Born to Run, but the album did better than was expected.
