Doctor Dolittle is the central character of a series of children's books by Hugh Lofting. He is a doctor who shuns human patients in favour of animals, with whom he can speak in their own languages.

The Doctor Dolittle stories have inspired a number of film and television versions, notably the 1967 film starring Rex Harrison and the 1998 film starring Eddie Murphy. At the time of writing, they are lumped together under Doctor Dolittle (movie).
