Dorado is a small touristic town in the northern coast of Puerto Rico, east of San Juan, Catano, and Bayamon.

Dorado has long been known as a golf haven. It's touristic industry includes the Dorado Beach Resort and the El Cerromar Hotel, as well as Dorado Airport, a small airport that used to be served by Dorado Wings. In addition, there are many upscale neighborhoods and a small downtown with stores.

President Gerald Ford once stayed in Dorado during his presidency, for a 1976 meeting with other heads of state from the Caribbean.

Dorado has been voted Puerto Rico's cleanest town various times.

Recently, a controversy surrounding Dorado Airport has raised. Dorado's mayor wants to build into it, so that it can become a jet-port and future alternative to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan for airlines, as well as to Isla Grande Airport, also in San Juan, for private aviation.
