Edward G. Rendell, (b. 1943 ) Democrat, was elected Governor of Pennsylvania in 2002. His term of office began January 21, 2003.

He served as mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1992-1999 before running for governor in 2002. As mayor, helped improved neighborhoods and help balance city budget. Named "America's Mayor" by Al Gore.

He graduated from University of Pennsylvania (1965) and Villanova Law School (1968) and he is an Army veteran.
