Tolkien, the Elendili, or Elf-Friends, were a faction of Númenóreans who advocated continued friendship with the Elves and devotion to the Valar. They were opposed by the King's Men, who advocated reliance upon the might of Men. The factional split began during the reign of King Tar-Ancalimon, and continued until the destruction of Númenor.
