The racial makeup of the town is 89.34% White, 3.69% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.62% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.12% from other races, and 2.96% from two or more races. 11.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 862 households out of which 15.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.0% are married couples living together, 10.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.7% are non-families. 35.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.08 and the average family size is 2.69.
