A European Comic is a comic strip that generally comprises album length (ca. 60 pages) stories in the humoristic adventure vain. Typical examples are Tintin, Asterix and Spirou. Although Belgium is the place where these comics first came into existence, and which their production was profilic, the name also describes similar comics produced in The Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy, amongst others.

European comics can be contrasted with superhero comics and manga, which are produced and read in English speaking countries and Japan, respectively.
