A eutectic is a mixture of two or more crystalline substances which has a lower melting point than that of any of its constituents.

Former text (to be included) A eutectic is an alloy with a well-defined melting point. A non-eutectic alloy, when it freezes, crystallizes first one part and then another; a eutectic does not separate when it freezes. The graph of melting point versus concentration bends at the eutectic, usually with the eutectic being a minimum.
