Ferdinand Lassalle (April 11, 1825 - 1864), German politician.

Lassalle founded the Allgemeiner Deutscher Arbeiterverein (roughly German Worker's Society) on May 23, 1863.

He financed Karl Marx to allow him to develop his political philosophy, and strongly influenced the thinking of the British Marxist politician H. M. Hyndman, who established the UK's first socialist party, the Social Democratic Federation. He was killed in a duel.\n
