Firestar is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe who has the ability to shoot heat beams from her body and fly. Her powers come from the fact that she is a mutant, and carries the X-gene. She was a member of the X-Men for a while.
The character was created for the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends as a replacement for the Human Torch, as it was feared that children in the audience might get the wrong idea from the Torch bursting into flame every time he activated his powers. Later, she appeared in the mainstream comic books as well.
