Frank Black, American musican.

Frank Black (real name Charles Thompson III) was one of the founding members of alt-rock band The Pixies with Filipino guitarist Joey Santiago.

Frank Black studied in the University of Massachusetts, before taking off to Peuerto Rico as part of an exchange program. It was here where he reportedly spent six months in a fitieth storey apartment with a "weird, psycho, gay room mate." Black's insuffecient grasp of the local language (which meant he couldn't even open a bank account to cash his cheques) forced him to make a decision whilst slumped in a local bar. He would either go to New Zealand to observe the passing of Haley's Comet or form a rock band.

After the rise and fall (due to interternal tensions between Black and Kim Deal) of the Pixies, Black went on to conduct solo material with Eric Drew Feldman in Frank Black and the Catholics and still enjoys moderate success.
