Gareth Davies was a founder member and principal songwriter in Suburban Vegetable, releasing five albums between 1990 and 1993, including the cult classics Organic and Censored Haircut. His early musical style veered from his early improvised synth-pop to the loud rock guitars of the band's mid-90s material, the shift inspired by Davies' love of bands such as The Pixies and Pavement.

Since the band split Davies has been a member of several minor indie bands in the UK but has now started a solo career, releasing his second solo album If You Can't See My Mirrors I Can't See You in 2002. His solo style is resolutely D-I-Y and yet songs such as Napoleon (a collaboration with his longtime friend, County Down's Adam Leonard) and (I) Feel Like A Ghostbuster retained a clear pop sensibility that shone through the lo-fi production. His solo albums clearly betray his love of English curios such as Syd Barrett, Kevin Ayres, Julian Cope and Robyn Hitchcock. He is currently a member of indie curios Nusonic and lives and writes in Manchester.
