The racial makeup of the county is 90.61% White, 8.29% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 0.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,004 households out of which 32.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.70% are married couples living together, 9.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.70% are non-families. 26.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
