Hans Majestet Kongens Garde (HMKG) (lit., His Majesty The King's Guards) is the Norwegian King's bodyguards; they guard the royal residences (the Royal Castle and Skaugum) and the Royal Mausoleum at Akershus Castle in Oslo.

The HMKG is located in Huseby leir in Oslo, except for a few companies.

Military organization

The HMKG is organized as an infantry battalion of seven companies:

  • Kp1 - the rifle company, who faught invading Wehrmacht forces in the battle for Midtskogen Gård in April 1940
  • Kp2 - the escort company
  • Kp3 - the band & drill company, participating in military tattoos all over the world
  • Kp4 - the ranger company
  • Kp5 - the support company
  • Kp6 - the traning company, located at Heistadmoen outside Kongsberg
  • Idrettskompaniet (athlete company), located at Kolsås leir in Oslo
