A Home Zone is a street or group of streets in a town ir city that are designed primarily to meet the interests of pedestrians and cyclists rather than motorists, opening up the street for social use.

In Europe, the Homezone principle is known as woonerf (Netherlands) or verkehrsberuhigung (Germany). Community involvement is necessary to improve urban liveability and the urban environment via residential street design. This includes shared surfaces, traffic calming, speed limit compliance and traffic restraint. This should lead to safer streets, including pedestrian safety and bicycle safety.
