Hud is a 1963 film which tells the story of a modern-day cowboy who conflicts with his father over the best way to keep their ranch from dying. It stars Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas, Patricia Neal, Brandon De Wilde and Whit Bissell.

The movie was adapted by Harriet Frank Jr and Irving Ravetch from the novel Horseman Pass By by Larry McMurtry. It was directed by Martin Ritt.

It won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Melvyn Douglas), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Patricia Neal) and Best Cinematography, Black-and-White. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Paul Newman), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Black-and-White, Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
