Huntington Village is a hamlet located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the hamlet had a total population of 18,403.

Although the central business district is old and well developed, and is called "Huntington Village" locally, it is not incorporated and does not have a village form of government with a mayor, it would be properly described politically as the Hamlet of Huntington.

Geography

Huntington Village is located at 40°52'40" North, 73°24'49" West (40.877798, -73.413687)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the hamlet has a total area of 19.87 km² (7.67 mi²). 19.51 km² (7.53 mi²) of it is land and 0.36 km² (0.14 mi²) is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 18,403 people, 7,052 households, and 4,992 families residing in the hamlet. The racial makeup of the hamlet is 93.7% White, 2.1% African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.8% Asian, (n=2) Pacific Islander, 1.1% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. 3.6% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 7,052 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% are non-families. 23.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 3.08.
