The term injury time refers to the period at the end of each half of a Football match when the official duration (normally 45 minutes) has already expired.

Each half of a football game lasts, according to the laws of the game, 45 minutes. Since time measurement is not halted during stoppages in the game, the referee is required to extend the length of a half to compensate for time which has been lost during stoppages. However, the amount of injury time is in the discretion of the referee.
