James Rouse (April 26, 1914 - April 9, 1996) was a real estate developer, pioneer of the indoor shopping mall, and visionary creator of the planned community Columbia, Maryland. According to Time Magazine, he was "the man who made cities fun again" with his Festival Marketplaces such as Faneuil Hall, Boston, South Street Seaport in New York City and Harborplace in Baltimore. He was also the grandfather of actor Edward Norton.
