Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is the fifth movie from Kevin Smith, famous for his cult film Clerks and the more commercially successful films Chasing Amy and Dogma. The title is a take on the second Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back.

The film is the latest one to feature Jay and Silent Bob and the only one where they are the main characters. As such, it is fairly indulgent and includes numerous references to Smith's earlier films (including the return of many old characters).

The soundtrack to this film featured the 2001 Afroman hit, Because I Got High.
