Jordanes (also Jordanis or Iornandes) was a 6th century historian. Born in the lower Danube region, he was an probably related to the Ostrogoths. At the time of Justinian, he was a Christian and possibly bishop of Croton. Around 551, he wrote De origine actibusque Getarum (The origin and deeds of the Goths), "De breviatione chronicorum" and "De regnorum et temporum successione" and many more.
