KDevelop is a C and C++ IDE for the Linux (and other Unix-like) operating systems. The last stable release is 2.1 which is now declared obsolete. The successor, called "Gideon" (KDevelop 3.0), is a complete rewrite of KDevelop. It is planed to release it together with KDE 3.2 in February 2004.

Unlike many other IDEs, KDevelop does not include a compiler, instead relying on gcc to produce executable code.

The new version 3.0 ("Gideon"), is currently under development, and supports many more programming languages like Ada, Bash, Fortran, Java, Pascal, Perl, Python, Ruby and SQL.
