Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (The Eternity You Wish For in English, Kiminozo for short) was a 14-episode anime TV series that ran on Japanese television from October 5, 2003 to January 4, 2004. Originally based on a hentai game, the show is not hentai itself.
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is a romance story and as close to a soap opera as you might find in anime. The beginning of the story is of four high school friends, Takayuki Narumi, Haruka Suzumiya, Mitsuki Hayase and Shinji Taira. Mitsuki sets Takayuki up with the shy Haruka and they begin to date each other.
One day, Takayuki is running late on his way to meet up with Haruka. This turns into tragedy as Haruka is involved in a very serious automobile accident, being put in a coma. This puts Takayuki into a serious depression (by feeling that his lack of promptness caused the situation). As time progresses, Takayuki grows worse and worse. Mitsuki begins to take care of him and grows to love him. Eventually they have sex and enter a relationship of mutual convenience, living together in Takayuki's small apartment.
Then, one day, three years later, Haruka awakes from her coma, oblivious to the changes of the previous three years. The doctors ask that she be kept uninformed of the changes in order to protect her fragile psyche.
Takayuki Narumi - The lead protagonist. During the story, he works at a family restaurant after having receded in his studies due to Haruka's accident. In Haruka's absence, he begins to develop a relationship with Mitsuki.
Haruka Suzumiya - A shy girl who is friends with Mitsuki and introduced by her to Takayuki, where they fall in love with each other. She is involved in a major automobile accident and ends up in a coma for three years.
Mitsuki Hayase - Mitsuki is friends with both Takayuki and Haruka. In high school, she was a strong swimmer, but shortly after Haruka's accident, she grew distant and couldn't swim as well anymore, eventually leaving the swimming world altogether. She grew to love Takayuki while taking care of him during his depression and eventually throws herself at him when he fails to notice her. Mitsuki is well-meaning, but suppresses her feelings, allowing them to bottle up and explode in dangerous ways.
Akane Suzumiya - Haruka's younger sister. Initially treats both Takayuki and Mitsuki like older siblings until she finds out they've been sleeping together behind Haruka's back. Dotingly watches out for her comatose sister, she visits her every day. She, like Mitsuki, is a powerful swimmer in her own right.
Shinji Taira - Friends with Takayuki, Haruka and Mitsuki in high school, he drifts off from the group after graduation. Becomes an important character towards the end of the series.
Ayu Daikuuji and Mayu Tamano (AyuAyu and MayuMayu) - Two waitresses who work at the same family restaurant as Takayuki. Ayu is the surly daughter of an executive of the restaurant (the only reason she keeps her job) and Mayu is a soft-spoken but well-meaning klutz. They provide the only comic relief for this otherwise serious series.
