Köttbullar, or Swedish meatballs are balls of minced or ground meat.

There are many kind of meatball recipes with different kind of spices. How you make your meatballs depend on your taste.

However, all recipes are based on the following basic, or minimum, recipe on Swedish meatballs:
Serves: 4
Time: 30 minutes

0.5 kg ground beef
1 egg
0.5 dl dried bread crumbs
2 - 3 dl fluid, like water, milk or cream
1 small onion
salt, pepper

1. Combine the fluid and the dried bread crumb in a bowl and let it sir for 7-8 minutes.
2. Chop the onion fine.
3. Combine the ground beef, the egg, the chopped onion, salt and pepper in the bowl.
4. Make round meatballs, approximately 2-3 centimeters in diameter.
5. Fry the meatballs on medium heat in a frying pan with butter for approximately 3-5 minutes. Fry them on all sides until they are brown and not pink in the middle.

Serve them with mashed potatoes and lingonberry or cranberry preserve.
