Lan Caihe's age and sex are unknown. Lan is depicted often as a girl or boy, but sometimes as a woman or a man, s/he carries a flower basket. S/he was from Tang Dynasty. His/her behaviour was out of norm and deemed strange by most people. S/he wore only shorts and thin shirts in winter, and thick jacket and long pants in summer.
