Leech Lake Township is a township located in Cass County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 384.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 91.3 km² (35.3 mi²). 60.0 km² (23.2 mi²) of it is land and 31.3 km² (12.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 34.26% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 384 people, 155 households, and 119 families residing in the township. The population density is 6.4/km² (16.6/mi²). There are 285 housing units at an average density of 4.7/km² (12.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 77.60% White, 0.00% African American, 21.35% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. 1.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 155 households out of which 25.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.5% are married couples living together, 6.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% are non-families. 18.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.74. In the township the population is spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 35.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 114.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.9 males.
