Left Behind is a series of books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. They are novels dealing with pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatology. They deal with the rise of the Antichrist, a Romanian named Nicolae Carpathia, who undergoes a meteoric political rise from member of the Romanian Parliament, to President of Romania, to Secretary-General of the United Nations, finally becoming "Potentate of the Global Community". He is resisted by a group of people who call themselves the "Tribulation Force", and who are centered around a church in Chicago.
The books include Left Behind, Tribulation Force, Nicolae, Soul Harvest, Apollyon, Assassins, The Indwelling, The Mark, Desecration, The Remnant and Armageddon.
The 12th and final book in the series is due out in March 2004 and is titled Glorious Appearing .
There are also graphic novels, audio drama tapes/cds and Left Behind series for children.
Two spin off book series are planned. The series would involve different characters than in the original series, but cover the same time frame as the original series.
