The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a video game, originally created for the GameBoy. A color version, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX was created for the GameBoy Advance, however. It is generally considered one of the better games of the Legend of Zelda series, compared to Ocarina of Time, among others.

As A Sidestory

It is the first of the series to take place outside Hyrule and the main "Triforce" storyline, and can be considered one of a number of Zelda sidestories. These sidestories are those games in which Ganon is not the principal antagonist, such as The Adventure of Link for NES and Majora's Mask for the N64 (which was in fact developed under the working title Gaiden, Japanese for sidestory. Presumably the GameCube sequel to The Wind Waker will follow this pattern, although plot details are unknown at this time (Dec. 2003).
