The municipality Lierne in the county of Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, has 1,558 inhabitants as of January 1, 2002.

Lierne is most famous for the bears. Though the bear stock in Lierne is low compared to e.q. the bear stock in Sweden, it is a problem for the sheep farmers.

In the period 1915-1964 Lierne was dividet in two municipalities, Nordli and Sørli.

The cross-country race Flyktingerennet is arranged every year. It's a race following the barway of the runaways who escaped from Norway to Sweden during the World War 2.
